A lifetime of love for music…

Just a little history…

When I was 10 years old, my brother Terry, who is also a musician, took me to our local music shop, bought me my first guitar and from that day forward I was hooked.

Like most young guitarists trying to get past playing an F chord was the turning point. I’m really glad I persevered because once you really get into playing the sense of achievement is immense.

I just loved the sound and simplicity of an acoustic guitar as a vocal accompaniment because it had such a huge tonal range and of course it’s easy to transport.

I spent hours listening to my musical hero James Taylor with my vinyl copy of Sweet Baby James and gradually worked out how to play my first song, Fire and Rain.

I never stop learning and add at least a song or two every week to my set lists, most recently my version of Blinding Lights by The Weeknd.

The brilliant thing about music is that new material keeps coming and young artists, like Jacob Collier, proves that just when you think you’ve heard it all you realise you haven’t.

I now have more than 40 years’ experience as a professional musician having played in numerous groups including the popular function band Eye II Eye, Santana tribute band Abraxus, Bare bones trio and of course I was the tall half of The Ovation Brothers.

I’m based in Somerset and play all over the South West at pubs, clubs, private functions, festivals, restaurants and hotel lounges.

My repertoire includes hundreds of classic and modern versions of songs by artists from David Gray to Crowded House and Joni Mitchell to Kate Rusby.

There is literally nowhere to hide playing solo and that’s probably what makes it so endlessly exciting.

As long as I have music, I will never be bored.
